
PROFILE:
Kenji Hayasaki was born in Saitama, Japan, and left his country at the age of 16. He has directed and produced many films and video projects since he studied filmmaking at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.
Some of Kenji’s films were nominated and screened at international film festivals and on television. “Life” was nominated at Toho Cinema’s student film festival, and marked as the top film at Con-Can Movie Festival by Jean Michelle Frodon, a renowned film critic/ editor in chief of Cahier Du Cinema. “Life” was also broadcasted through cell phones in Japan as a new stream of internet services.
After earning his BFA for Film & TV at NYU, Kenji’s productive approach was widely recognized in TV production and commercial projects. After working full time at a production company for 2 years, he became a freelancer in 2007 to explore a different means of creativity and expression.

As an independent filmmaker, Kenji directed and produced an experimental musicvideo “Balis” in collaboration with world renowned jazz/dub musician Takuya Nakamura. “Balis” earned him the Remi Award at the World Fest in Houston, as well as a nomination at Fest Film Festival in Portugal.
His following short film “Brain Bug” was broadcasted on UTB Hollywood, the first and largest Japanese cable channel in the U.S, as well as nominations at other film festivals.
As he continues to produce unique short films,music videos, and other creative visual projects, Kenji is currently developing his first feature film “Off the Route”
